Hack Manhattan Hosts The Lost Bird Project & Fold the Flock: The Passenger Pigeon Origami Project
September 1, 2014 marks 100 years since Martha the Passenger Pigeon and her kind last graced the earth. While the geneticists attempt to bring back this poster bird for the environment, come help us contribute to the Fold the Flock Origami Project by folding your own!
We have 100 birds to build, and Todd McGrain from The Lost Bird Project will be joining us. After folding our Pigeons, we'll be screening the film "The Lost Bird Project," previously aired on PBS.
Space is limited. Please RSVP on Hack Manhattan's Meetup page. Snacks will be served!
About Hack Manhattan:
Hack Manhattan is located on 137 West 14th Street between Union Square and Chelsea. We are dedicated to technology, art and craft. Our physical space is open every Tuesday and Thursday evening. A smaller 3D printing foucsed group gathers on Thursday evenings, and it’s possible to visit the space and use our facilities at other times whenever a member is hosting.
A lot of our activities have focused on electronics and 3D printing, but we also have a machine shop with a lathe and a mill, sewing machines, gardening and even a beehive on the roof.
Tech Tuesday is the weekly open night at Hack Manhattan, a community hackerspace in the Union Square neighborhood of Manhattan. Stop by to chat about your projects and use our electronics tools, 3D printers, sewing machines or machine shop. Everyone is encouraged to bring a project to work on!
